Whenever I get homesick for Fairmount all I have to do is turn on my computer and here it is at my fingertips. Thanks to Bobby M. for this wondermondus site! It brings back lots of great memories, and you find friends that you haven't seen or talk to in years. It keeps you up to date on the neighborhood and the people. I think its the best thing to happen for Fairmount. You can take the girl out of Fairmount, but you can't take Fairmount out of the girl. keep up the great work Bob M. Webmaster's Note: You're very welcome! :)

I was born and raised in Fairmount also, but I moved out in March of 1999 to Cincinnati, OH to be with my fiance. I like Fairmount alot, in fact I miss it and can't wait to visit over Christmas. We are planning our wedding there in November of 2000 at St. Francis xavier Church...I felt that I had to get married in my childhood (beautiful) church. If my fiance was living in Philadelphia instead of Cincy, then I would probably still be living in Fairmount. My family still lives on Croskey St. and my best friends Celina McCabe, Sue Rogers, and Jackie Dougherty still live there. I am well aware of all the drug problems in Fairmount, but it's like any other neighborhood...believe me! Drugs is certainly not the reason that I moved, it's just one of the things about the neighborhood that saddens me. But like I said, I miss the neighborhood and my friends and can't wait to visit. I'm just glad that I found this web-site(thanks to Celina for telling me about it) to keep me in touch with the neighborhood. Take care!

I read Bobby MCGinley's requests to hear from any one over 45 years old. I wasn't sure if I qualified until I checked my birth certificate. And, as anyone who knew me would have guessed I qualified. It has been a real pleasure reading the comments from the old line Fairmounters, most of which I remember, and partied with a whole hell of a lot of you guys at(Let's go down memory lane): Fairmount West, La Casa, Taney and Brown, Chanticlaire(don't know if that is spelled correctly) Connies, Old English, Morning Glory, London(McMenamins), Lou Turks, 832 North 25th(Hughes and co.) 830 North 25th(Hub's Pub), Moose's speakeasy (Brown between 25th and 26th). My memory is beginning to act like that of an over 45 year old Fairmounter, so I'll need some help naming some of the other old hangouts where we might have partied to the wee hours of the morning. So let's hear from those who remember the places I have left off the list, and the experience of some of those crazy crazy nights of long ago. Please don't feel offended If I have omitted one of your favorites.

I haven't check this site in a while and it seems like a lot of people have found it and want to go down memory lane. Well, I got one for you! Who remembers the guys from 22nd and Brown? Particularly the Wagner Boys and the Flavor City Boys. This would have been in the late sixties. I hung out on 24th St., but went to St. Franny's and Bishop Neumann with them. Hello to Bobby Rogers and Kenny and Herbie Bailey. Bobby, I have a story about you that I'll send to your e-mail address.

I almost forgot. I will be in Philly next week for Thanksgiving. If anybody sees a bald guy with his 8 year old grandson (John-Morgan) walking around Fairmount looking like a tourist say Yo Bobby! that will be me. If you don't see us say hello to my sister Debbie from Taney St. or my aunt and uncle Marie and Willie Meginley you may find them hanging out at Beato's, or if you see any of the Ginders (George or Joe) my cousins or my Uncle George Fulmer (shock) wish them a Happy Thanksgiving. Well that's enough name dropping for now, just wanted to establish my connection to Fairmount.
