I grew up in Fairmount and I loved every minute of it. My family lived on Swain Street and I still have relatives all over. Fairmount will always have a special place in my heart!

This will be my last post as webmaster.

Thanks to everyone for the support. Hello to all of you who have written.

Eight years do go by quickly. I can't believe I started this web site in 1996.

Anyway, it'll be up to the new webmaster to decide what stays and goes from now on. Take it easy on him, ok. It's a tough job sometimes; I know he'll do well.

You can always keep up with what I'm doing at my website, BobMoran.com. It's not complete yet, but you can contact me from there if you like.

I'll occasionally be visiting my mother and other relatives in Fairmount and Philly, so you haven't gotten completely rid of me yet :)

Glad to see this site is staying up. Thanks to the person who is taken over. Best of Luck to you Bob in all your future plans. Mark I have no idea whatever happen to Rita or Ginny Judge. To the coward from East Falls who didn't leave a name after the comment... Drugs are in all neighborhoods, even your own! So don't bad mouth Fairmount because East Falls is no better, or is it you are the type who is in everyone else's business instead of taken care of your own? Fairmount has many good things about it, why not mention them instead. Just to mention a few -- the Art Museum, the afterschool programs at the schools, the baseball and softball teams it has, T-ball for the youngest ones all the way up to softball for the women, etc.

I did not bad mouth Sister Bernarda.I just said I was Afraid of her because she was so strict.I see now she was just trying to teach us discipline.I am glad to hear that she is still alive and if I saw her today I would give her a big hug.

FAIRMOUNT WOULD BE AN EVEN BETTER HOOD IF THEY COULD GET A HANDLE OF THE DRUG PROBLEM THAT EXISTS AMONG ITS YOUTH.

Bob, Sorry to hear that the site might go down, but we do understand. Just wanted to say thank you and PJ Neal for setting this site up and showing our hometown to the world. You did a terrific job keeping up on things from a distance. Again thanks for the memories.

Sorry to hear that you are going to pull the plug. This site is a link to my past. A trip down memory lane. I just want to thank you for that. Was great growing up in Fairmount and I often hear "you can take the girl out of Fairmount but you can't take the Fairmount out of the girl". I will always miss the great times I had growing up in such a great neighborhood.

After reading you message, Bob, it would be so sad to lose this wonderful site. I went to St. Nick's and my Mom still goes there and lives in the neighborhood but you are right. It isn't the same and never will be. So many outsiders who are unfriendly and keep to themselves. Even my Mom says it's not the same. Too many people involved in their own lives not wanting to know or help their fellow neighbors. I lived on 22nd street around the corner from your family. I wish you the best! By the way, Sister Bernarda is still alive and well (it's funny how the BAD kids in school bad mouth the nuns who were trying to help them, isn't it) and just visited St. Nick's last week. She is now working to help orphans in Ukraine and if anyone wants to contribute to her need of money to buy clothes and toys for these children, contact the St. Nick Rectory. I graduated in 1969, my brother and sister in 1973 and 1974. Long Live Fairmount and St. Nick's. Wish you good luck, Bob!
