before 1900 St.Francis Xavier Church and school was located at 401 north 25th street(25th&Biddle or Buttonwood st) actually where the Art Museum steps are on the far side is now located--picture no Art Museum, all houses and livery Stables, Ice Houses,Factories, and Mills--it took pver 10 years to clear all that out and to have what we see today "The Ben Franklin Parkway and by 1929 The Art Museum too.

When talking about Staz Brothers you mentioned Chester Do you mean Lasota? If yes, Chessie died about 2 years ago - heart attack while at work at U of P - he was married to Angel Seddon from Pennock (first wife was Teresa Breslin)

There only a few fairmount people left in fairmount to those who are left we still choose to have halloween on a special day because if you still lived here you would know its not really safe to walk the streets at night or in the day time ...So as for halloween day it just a big free for all for the 60 something kids that come down and i mean thats just one group of kids that are 15 and older that dont have a costumes do you think they came for the candy I really dont think so ... Everyone thinks its like the old days but really there are only hand full of fairmounters left that are here so we dont hide behind our doors we are being smart i guess you havent heard of all shootings in the city and how many were kids doing the shootings ..So we are playing it smart we arent trying to temp our faith or our kids...
