Okay.....here's the deal: I'm pulling the plug on the Guestbook feature of the site. From now on, you'll have to use the Forum to communicate with one another.

The format of the guestbook has never been a good one for trying to communicate back and forth:

The messages are in reverse chronological order (meaning that the newest messages come before the first ones), so it's hard to know what is being responded to.

There is no separation of what's being discussed--in other words, every topic is jumbled into one place--with the Forum, new threads can be started for new topics, increasing the likelihood that your question or comment will be seen.

The pages sometimes repeat the same messages that were on the previous page (mostly this happens when you try to go to page 2 or 3 or beyond--you'll see a couple posts from the previous page.

The guestbook was mostly meant as a place for visitors to the site to say hello, how you doin'? That aspect is sort of lost when there are a milion, "my wife is so yadda yadda" jokes...but I must admit, Kramer had me cracking up on many occasions.

And finally, now there's suddenly a bunch of spam to deal with.

Sorry if you're just in love with the Guestbook. Hopefully you all can appreciate the need for this change and roll with the punches, so to speak. I certainly hope it doesn't kill the site.

In order to post in the forum, you'll need to register, which requires picking a username, supplying a valid e-mail address, and setting a password. The e-mail address has to be valid, because once you create your account, you have to click on a link that is sent in an e-mail to you in order to activate the account. In some instances, the e-mail that gets sent gets blocked by Spam blockers, so if you don't get the activation e-mail within an hour or so (usually it only takes a few seconds), please e-mail me and I can activate your account manually. You'll also need to enter the "VIP" code when registering--this is to prevent spam "bots" from registering. The VIP code is "FMT" (without the quotes, but in all capital letters).
